The video below is amazing.  It is a camera that has six lenses and is able to rotate in any direction.  So, here is what you do:

1.  Press Play

2.  Click and drag the arrow around so you can view the crowd in any direction.

3.  Act like you are at a rave and go nuts like the people in the video!

4.  Share the video!

I thought I’d take a moment to tell all of you some of the bands I’ve been listening to lately.  I really feel that these are some of the best new bands of 2009 and possibly 2010!  (bands listed in no particular order)

nicovega_album1.  Nico Vega – Their Track “Beast” really got me!  Check it out at http://www.myspace.com/nicovega

2.  Jeremy Lister – A GREAT sounding album.  My friend Vanessa introduced me to them!  A great find.

3.  The Damnwells – Yes, a great great new band.  Love the singer’s voice and very powerful, meaningful songs!  Check them out in Atlanta at Vinyl this Friday, August 1st.

4.  Gary Pfaff & The Heartwells – An amazing songwriter!

loverswisdomCOVER5.  Galynne Goodwill – Very dear to me!  As the years have gone by, she has become a much better songwriter.  Be sure to get her latest release “Lovers of Wisdom” free from her website!

6.  Cory Chisel & The Wandering Sons – A great band from Wisconsin with a great folk/Americana sound.  Justin Perkins does a great job mixing them!

7. Squarewave – One of my all time favorite bands!  Their album Dullhead was a great album.  Check out some of their tracks on myspace!  http://www.myspace.com/squarewave1

8. MGMT – Yet another one of my new favorite sounds.  They have such a unique blend of electronics and live music that it’s hard to resist their sound!

9.  Kings of Leon – One of the most digitally downloaded bands of 2009. (In fact, it was the most downloaded band of all time in 2009! WOW!)  Check them out for sure.  I love their music and hear they are pretty grand live!

santigoldbannerbox10.  Santigold – Her new wave/pop mix makes for some great catchy dance tunes.  Check her out this year.  She is sure to be “gold!”  Dave (our bass player) introduced her to me after his trip to the 2009 Bonnaroo Festival.  Maybe I should go next year to hear some great new acts!??!?!?!  Anyone wanna come with?
Well, that is it for my list of some of the best new bands of 2009 (and maybe 2010) for now.  I’m sure I’ll post more as the time comes.

It was #phish!  Kind of odd, don’t you think?!  I thought so.  

There were only two things that popped into my head when I saw that:

 

1.  The band “Phish” (whom, we all love in the band!)  (This is what I thought the fuss was about)

2.  Something to do with “phishing” as in a “phishing” for personal info through a website.  (then this was second)

 

I really didn’t know what the confusion was about, so I looked at the real-time results for #phish and this is the picture I got!

If you haven’t been following along, I’d like to tell you again, that a few weeks ago, I signed an endorsement deal with Anthem Guitars and I’m proud to play their guitars.  When you get a chance, please visit their website at:  http://www.anthemguitars.com and see the line of guitars they have.  Too bad I’m not a bass player, their bass guitars look great!

So, the other day, I was messing around on my Anthem Guitar and put it to the test!  The model I have is the PST20HB and it looks great.  It has a honeyburst finish, larger frets, and two great sounding humbuckers.  The wood is also an excellent choice.  For the price, you cannot beat it.  So, I played the guitar through my Fender Deluxe and and wow, on the clean, it really has that vintage clean sound.  Through a little chorus and slight distortion, I had a great time messing around with it.  I switched channels for a little drive and the guitar has a great blues tone when on the neck pick up.  For the blues players, this is your guitar.

After jammin’ on some Luther Allison tunes, I pulled out my overdrive pedal and switched to the bridge pickup for some great “classic” rock tones!  It does not have extremely hot pickups that you’d find in some guitars, but rather a perfect fit for that “classic” rock tone.  I was able to pull off a lot in the bridge pickup position alone. The neck feels great and has a little wider feeling towards te 12th fret, but it really plays well.

The thing I noticed about the guitar the most was its ease of use.  Its just really easy on the fingers, and I love how it sustains.  The combination of the good hardware, wood and pickups really make this guitar a great fit for me.  I’ll be playing this guitar on a lot of the band’s songs.

Well, to sum it up, it can be best said that this particular Anthem guitar (the PST20HB) has great hardware, great sustain, and that perfect classic rock sound.  All of this for a MSRP of $529.00.  If you’d like to get one, please conact me, or visit the Anthem website for more information.  We’ll be posting some vids soon of this guitar in action.  In the meantime, check out our youtube page at:  http://www.youtube.com/thefirststonemusic

As you might or might not have known, I come from the Midwest and one of my absolute favorite groups from the Midwest is Squarewave in Madison, WI.  Their music is indie, psychadelic, rock, but just all too awesome!  As their blog just announced yesterday, they are finally done with their new album “Throwing Stones” and it is currently available in Madison, WI.  Squarewave will soon have the album on iTunes and CDBaby for sale.  Their last two releases  “A Faint Glow” and “Dullhead” were just amazing music!

So, if you haven’t guessed it, Squarewave is a big influence.  One night a few years back, I was lucky enough to see this group who only plays a few nights a year!  Its really a big night when they play in Madison.  Look for their new album “Throwing Stones” from Boat Records in stores soon!  I’m sure that as soon as its available, I’ll be getting a copy right away!

Anyways, I just thought I’d share this awesome news for those of you into new music!  See you soon at our next show.  P.S.  In other news, Brian has gained 15 .lbs in the past three days in hopes of his Little Debbie Snack Cakes endorsement.  Yeah Oatmeal Pies!!!
